This Sunday at Edenbridge Rugby Club, we’re proud to host a special Charity Day in support of the incredible Greenaway Foundation
This year the Club again plans to support The Greenaway Foundation as our Christmas charity.
The Greenaway Foundation is a local charity relying solely on donations to support under-privileged families in our local community including, Edenbridge, Hartfield, Oxted, Uckfield and East Grinstead, many of whom go under the radar of formal help. All families are nominated to the Charity via local schools or pastoral care.
Come Christmas, the Foundation provides to these families all the fresh ingredients to cook a two course Christmas meal and the children of these families are invited to wish for a gift of their choice, up to the value of £25 each from Argos, the Body Shop or The Entertainer. These are children that would otherwise go without any gifts at all. These hampers and wrapped gifts will be delivered by volunteers on 24 December.
We will use our Christmas training on 15 December 2024, to run a few festive themed activities to add to the donations - Coaches and Managers are coordinating this and some of the activities will include a raffle, carol singing and the bar will be open. The U17s and U15s also have home matches and if you can stick around on 15 December it would be hugely appreciated.
Last year the Club raised almost £1900 and I know that Christmas is an expensive time of year. However, if we can get close to/beat that this year, it would be a wonderful support to the Foundation and families that need this help at this time of year - even £1 donation will always be gratefully received.
